Sheffield United will built on their midweek victory over Sunderland with another positive performance and result at home to early pacesetters Blackburn Rovers.

Ollie Norwood’s superb free-kick and Iliman Ndiaye’s brace after coming off the bench sealed a 3-0 win for the Blades, sending them top of the early Championship table.

Here’s what both managers had to say, along with a recap of the game…

Blades v Blackburn Rovers

We’re underway at the Lane with most of the pitch bathed in bright sunshine - should be a decent game this you’d imagine!

The Blades are in the building

Red card for the former Blade

for Rangers north of the border - harsh or fair?

A big day for this man

after an impressive cameo in midweek, Unitedites generally are willing him to get going for the season and if he bags today, the roof may well come off the Kop

And here’s how the Rovers line up

with two changes for the visitors at Bramall Lane

and the Blades make three changes from the side in midweek - McBurnie, Khadra and Fleck return to the side

How Anel has made his mark

As well as making a big impression on the pitch, Sheffield United’s John Egan last night described how Anel Ahmedhodzic has quickly become an influential figure inside the dressing room too.

Less than two months after completing a £3m move from Malmo, which saw him become the only player to arrive at Bramall Lane this summer for a transfer fee, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international’s name is already one of the first manager Paul Heckingbottom writes on his team sheet.

And Egan admitted his fellow defender’s character has impressed as well, saying: “Being a centre-half, he’s vocal and he’s a leader. If something has to be said, then he’ll say it. If there’s an issue that needs to be talked about, then he’ll talk.

“We all know he’s a good player but that’s another good attribute he’s got.”

and the Blades are back at Bramall Lane days after their victory over Sunderland - another tough test in store in the shape of the early league leaders, but they’re coming off the back of a poor result against Reading and it could be an absorbing contest in store at the Lane
