Blades’ preparations for the new season continue with Preston clash

  • Chris Wilder on the difficulties he’s faced during the close season
  • Young United starlets hailed
  • Liverpool want fans’ return for Blades clash
  • John Lundstram put Blades ahead against Preston
  • Dan Johnson equalised from the penalty spot
  • Billy Sharp’s penalty put United back ahead
  • Jayden Stockley equalised with the last touch of the game

and it’s another spot kick at the Lane after Pearson handled the ball in his own area, Sharp stepped up and sent Hudson the wrong way and the Blades are back ahead

as Barkhuizen goes down under Robinson's challenge after getting the better of Jagielka, Dan Johnson to take it for Preston.. and SCORES, sending Foderingham the wrong way from the spot

as Mousset goes down after a challenge on the far side, he gets some treatment from the United physios and we’ll see if he comes back on … it’s been an eventful few minutes for the Frenchman after coming on

for Mousset to get on the scoresheet less than a minute after coming on as Sharp sends him clear one-on-one, but he scuffs his effort a little and it sails wide of Hudson’s right post

at the break for the Blades, Regan Slater is also coming on for John Lundstram while Lys Mousset will replace Oli McBurnie as expected

Second half is imminent

Shieldsy’s half-time view

And that’s half-time

with the Blades ahead thanks to Lundstram’s opener, Preston should be on the scoreboard as well after hitting the post twice in the matter of a few seconds but so far, so good for the Blades in terms of getting minutes into the legs against decent opposition, and also troubling them as well…

Jack Robinson has a go

from outside the box after shifting onto his right foot, but it’s headed behind by Ben Davies for a Blades corner, which Davies heads clear again before the resulting cross beats everyone in the middle

as Osborn looks to backheel Bryan’s driven cross from the left home, he connects well but it goes the wrong side of the post from a Blades perspective - what a goal that would have been!
