Sheffield United v Crystal Palace LIVE
Key Events
- Palace went ahead after just over a minute through Benteke
Basham hits the side netting
with a well-struck shot after Norwood’s corner was headed into his path, he was in a bit of space and caught it well, but it goes the wrong side of the post
Jebbison is being prepared
to make his Premier League debut off the bench - he replaces Oli Burke, who has been pretty anonymous for most of this game in fairness
Bryan blocks
from Benteke after Eze weaved his way through once again and fed the striker - moments earlier United appealed for a penalty when McGoldrick went down in the box, but ref Hooper waved play on
Blades sub
sees Sander Berge replaced by Ben Osborn just before the hour mark - United badly missed Osborn’s energy from the start today and he has half an hour now to get the Blades back into it
Benteke hits the post
after United caused their own problems again with Fleck being robbed on the edge of his own box, Benteke took it on and shot powerfully but it hits the woodwork
Palace cross from the right
is intended for Benteke, he’s climbing all over Basham who does brilliantly well to divert the ball over his crossbar for a corner and Ramsdale clears the danger eventually after spilling the initial cross
Great chance
for the Blades to level after the ball lands at the feet of John Egan after a corner was headed half-clear, he takes it down and then slashes it high over the Palace goal when it looked easier to find the target
We’re back underway
with no changes for either side at the break - United need to offer a lot more in this second half to stand any chance of getting back into this
Half time
and that was pretty grim viewing from a United perspective, Palace will be wondering how they aren’t further in front but have barely had to break sweat to keep United at bay so far. Ramsdale the only one to come out with any credit from that first 45, after a big save from Benteke’s header - the rest are barely worth rating at all. Here’s to much, much better in the second half
