Football fans across the city have given their verdict after football authorities made the crucial decision to suspend all matches until early April to combat the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The EFL and Premier League both released official statements this morning (March 13) and confirmed that the professional game across England will be suspended until April 3 at the earliest.

This decision comes as a number of clubs began taking steps to protect their staff and players from the Covid-19 virus.

Premier League chief executive, Richard Masters, said: "Above all, we wish Mikel Arteta and Callum Hudson-Odoi speedy recoveries, and everyone else affected by COVID-19.

"In this unprecedented situation, we are working closely with our clubs, Government, The FA and EFL and can reassure everyone the health and welfare of players, staff and supporters are our priority."

Several stadiums and training facilities have also been closed until further notice.

Now football fans across the city have reacted to the news; when approached by The Star this is what they had to say.
