Sheffield United skipper Billy Sharp to return to his boyhood club for 2021 LJS Cup in honour of his late son Luey

The LJS Cup was set up in 2012 by Sharp and his now-wife Jade after the tragic death of their newborn son, Luey Jacob, from gastroschisis.

The tournament has grown in popularity over the years, with teams from across the region taking part, and Sharp will be on hand to give out medals and trophies to successful teams at the conclusion of the two-day event hosted by his boyhood club, Middlewood Rovers.

“We cannot thank each and every member of staff at Middlewood Rovers enough for putting in so much effort to ensure the tournament went ahead smoothly,” Sharp has said previously of the event.

“It’s the club where I began my footballing dream as an eight-year-old.”

The 2021 tournament will be held at Waverley Lane in Handsworth, S13 9AE, and gets underway at 10am on both days.
