'Sander Berge is the real deal' - How Sheffield United fans reacted to Blades abandoned friendly with Dundee United

A 45 minute run-out is better than nothing but Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder would have been definitely hoping for a little more under the belts of his players after the Blades friendly at Dundee United fell victim to the weather.

United had been leading through a Billy Sharp goal – the skipper also missed an early penalty – just before half time but that whistle to signal the break proved to herald the last of the action as the incessant wind and rain drove down on Tannadice.

It’s obviously hard to take too much from the display but there was an obvious stand-out performer against a young Dundee United side in the eyes of Blades fans.

Sander Berge impressed, driving forward, creating chances for himself and others.

@AdamRosadocs added: “Sander Berge is the real deal Blades fans. Can’t wait to watch him driving at Premier League defences this season. Future £50million+ player on our hands here.”

And @Harrison_GC agreed: “Just 45’ for the Blades as the first game of preseason is called off. Positives to take away Berge has looked good bursting forwards with the ball leading to the opener. Robinson looks lively, his good movement in and around the box has lead to openings.”

It was Berge who stood out for @DemBladesDavid too, who tweeted: “Thought the team handled the conditions pretty well. Composed passing and some nice moves, along with individual creativity. Berge very positive, looking to push forward most times he was on the ball.”

@The_Bladesman posted: “Sander Berge comfortably the best player on the pitch. Cal Robinson and Fleck also standouts for the Blades in a game in which the 2 sides have been battling the conditions aswell as each other.”

However, not everyone was impressed, as @parkerraces said: “So we are going to persist with Berge RCM. Just doesn’t work. And don’t tell me he’s just been MOTM against some Scottish fodder! He hasn’t the mobility or energy needed in the EPL to play the role. Wanted to see him bedded into the DCM role with Norwood moving over.”
