Revealed: Sheffield United's long wait for a Premier League hat-trick after Brian Deane scored only the FIFTH treble in PL history

But Sheffield United will hope that another of Deane’s records is soon broken – as the legendary Blades striker remains the last, and indeed only, Blade to score a hat-trick in the Premier League.

The treble came on January 16, 1993 when Deane netted all three goals against Ipswich Town.

Data, analysed by AmericanGambler.com, shows that as the last hat-trick scored by United in the top-flight – a remarkable wait of 9,935 days.

That’s the longest wait of all the current top-flight teams – apart from Brighton, who have never scored a Premier League treble.

Only five players achieved the feat in the Premier League before Deane: Eric Cantona (Leeds), Mark Robins (Norwich), John Hendrie (Middlesbrough) and Andy Sinton (Queens Park Rangers).
