Sydie Peck scored a goal and made another as Sheffield United got back to winning ways at the first attempt at Blackburn Rovers this evening. The Blades suffered their first defeat of the season at home to Norwich City at the weekend.
But they responded with plenty of character at Ewood Park, even if their play was far from free-flowing for the most part. They had to come from behind as well after Kristi Montgomery gave the home side the lead with a fine finish.
Peck was robbed of the ball for that goal but made amends with an assist for Tom Cannon, scoring at Ewood for the second time in two weeks, and then a goal of his own, a fine left-footed strike.
The Blades managed the game well from there although Michael Cooper made two smart saves to keep them ahead, denying Todd Cantwell and Jayden Fevrier.
Here’s how we rated United’s players on the night...

9. Romelle Donovan 6
Some nice moments and some frustrating ones once again from the young man, who got a volley from Peck as one dangerous pass almost resulted in another gift of a goal and the young loanee responded by suggesting Peck could have easily put his foot through it. Not everything he tried came off but the most impressive thing about him, for me, is that that doesn't dissuade him from trying it again the next time he gets the ball. Tracked back to help Choudhury and then Doherty as well, picking up a booking for a mistimed challenge. Made way for Arblaster | The Star/Sport Image

10. Ben Brereton Diaz 6
Booed on his return to the place where he arguably made his name but he shrugged off the jeers in another workmanlike display down the left. A couple of nice passes fed Cannon in behind early in the game and he kept Rovers' defence honest before he was replaced late on | Sheffield United

11. Tom Cannon 7
I asked Chris Wilder yesterday how much gut feeling played a part in his team selection sometimes and Cannon got the nod up front after scoring here just a fortnight ago. And history repeated itself with a lovely left-footed finish past Pears after Rothwell won the ball back and Peck fed the striker, who up to that point had barely had a sniff. But he stayed in the game and when his chance came, he took it | The Star/Sport Image
