ALAN QUINN hopes his brother Stephen can help fire Sheffield United to promotion and force himself into the international reckoning for the Republic of Ireland.
Alan, who recently retired because of a groin injury, lives in Sheffield and has seen younger brother Stephen play regularly throughout the season. He feels he’s a talented player and could play at a higher level.
Alan said: “Stephen probably deserved a cap when he was in the Premier League with United and he was unlucky not to get a run out after being involved in a couple of the squads and doing well for the Under 21s.
“Since then Giovanni Trapattoni has got a settled squad but some of their midfielders are coming to the back end of their careers so it’s not over for Stephen yet and he’s got plenty of time. Hopefully United will go up this season and with Danny Wilson in charge they could even go up again and that would put Stephen in the mix.
“He’s a very good player and he’s happy enough at United. I want to see him do well for them.”
