Speaking on talkSport, the 57-year-old gave an insight into the behind-the-scenes role veteran defender Phil Jagielka has played at the club since making his return last summer.

Cascarino revealed: "He (Chris Wilder) bought Phil Jagielka for a reason: (Jack) O'Connell, (Chris) Basham, (John) Egan...all relatively new to the Premier League, he wanted a guy of huge experience who played in the Premier League for a long time who would help them.

"It (his impact) won't be by him playing, because he’s not played very much, but he's been part of that squad, he's been in the training sessions, and he's setting the standard.

"That is what Sheffield United are all about - you buy into what they do, and if you don't do it you won't be there."

The former Republic of Ireland international went on to give examples of Billy Sharp and Dean Henderson as Blades stars brimming with confidence, and concluded: "There's a swagger to this club that comes from the manager, how hard they work.

“Him and Alan (Knill) his assistant, and the rest of their team. I've met a lot of them, and they're all together - everybody sings off the same hymn sheet."

Following their 1-0 Premier League win against Norwich City, the Blades take on Newcastle United this weekend. Chris Wilder's side currently sit five points off fourth place, with ten games to go.
