Away from the pitch, speculation continues to mount about Chris Wilder’s attempts to strengthen his squad this month.
Links to Manchester United defender Brandon Williams refuse to go away, and Football Insider now report that the league leaders are getting ready to green-light an exit for the young full-back.
The article also suggests that the Blades have already made an approach for the player.
Williams has fallen significantly down the pecking order at Old Trafford, with both Luke Shaw and Alex Telles ahead of him in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans.
The 20-year-old has been limited to just six minutes of Premier League action this term, a marked decrease on the 17 appearances he recorded last season.
With Enda Stevens struggling for fitness at points this season, Wilder has often turned to Ben Osborn to deputise on the left flank, but Williams represents a more natural defensive option than the 26-year-old.
The youngster won more defensive duels per 90 minutes last season than the Blades man has this term, as well as making more interceptions and more clearances, as per Wyscout.
He could be a smart addition for a Sheffield United side looking for added solidity.
