Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has lavished Sheffield United with praise after a tight victory over the Blades on Sunday.

Sheffield United performed well at the Etihad Stadium, and had a goal ruled out for offside by VAR, and boss Chris Wilder was also unhappy with City’s first goal after the referee blocked midfielder John Fleck seconds before Sergio Aguero scored.

Guardiola was full of praise for the Blades, and said he could understand their fantastic start to the season after playing them.

He said: “Today I realised - I already knew it but when you experience it yourself it's better - why Sheffield (United) are in the position they are in and didn't lose one game away.

"It was an incredibly tough game because we played...one of the most physical teams in the Premier League and we won it so a big compliment for the team again."
