Sheffield United have confirmed the signing of striker David McGoldrick.
The former Ipswich Town man has agreed a one-year deal at Bramall Lane with a view to stay on beyond that.
McGoldrick has spent a short period on trial with United, impressing in games against Mansfield Town and Bradford City and those performances, coupled with the 30 year-old's willingness to work for a contract have been rewarded.
Blades boss Chris Wilder, speaking ahead of Tuesday's friendly with Inter, said this was too good an opportunity for the Republic of Ireland international to turn down.
"I've continually said that we only want to bring in players who strengthen us and David ticks that box. He's a great link player, has a wealth of Championship experience and he may be coming into the best years of his career.
"David wanted to return north and this was too good an opportunity to turn down. His attitude and ability, not only in the matches he has played, but also on the training ground, is without question. I've spoken to a number of respected people about David and they cannot speak highly enough of him."
