Oli McBurnie reveals what it would be like to play for Sheffield United in the Champions League

Chris Wilder's men have defied pre-season predictions of relegation to establish themselves as genuine European contenders, just a year after winning promotion back to the Premier League after a 12-year absence.

Three years ago the Blades won the League One title, while McBurnie arrived in the summer from Championship side Swansea City.

And, in an interview with TV presenter Sioned Dafydd, it was pointed out that McBurnie could soon be going from playing against Rotherham United to facing Real Madrid in the space of 18 months, if the Blades made the Champions League.

"With all due respect to Rotherham, can you imagine that, from the New York Stadium to the Bernabeu?" McBurnie said.

"It's crazy when you think about it, going from mid-table in the Championship to potentially playing in the Europa League or Champions League. It would be something special.

"As a footballer you always want to play at the highest level you can and test yourselves against the best players. It has always been a dream of mine to play at the very top.

"I have played international football and I have played Premier League, so to add Champions League on to that would be remarkable and not a lot of people would have thought that."

The Blades were seventh in the table when the league was suspended because of Covid-19.
