Writing in his weekly predictions piece for BBC Sport, pundit Mark Lawrenson turned his attention to the Blades big game against Nuno Espirito Santo's men, and backed the West Midlands side to secure a 2-0 home win.

Justifying his prediction, the former Liverpool defender said: "I was at Bramall Lane to see Sheffield United lose to Arsenal last weekend. The Blades did not play badly and, as usual, worked extremely hard - but they carry next to no goal threat.

“For various reasons, Wolves have not had much of a cutting edge all season either, but they have got a lot more quality in their side and they will find a way through in the end.”

Meanwhile, Lawro's opponent for the week, Soccer AM star Tubes, went for a 3-0 Wolves victory.

Speaking ahead of the weekend, United's interim manager Paul Heckingbottom was asked whether his side are playing for their respective futures at the club, and responded: “One hundred per cent. They all know that and they’re aware of that. I keep getting asked if they’re trying; 100 per cent they are.

“You just have to look at the physical data. There’s only Leeds that have outperformed us in the physical areas - the players are giving everything for the shirt.”

As things stand, the Blades lie rock bottom of the Premier League table, with a cavernous 18 gap standing between them and safety.
