Mikel Arteta warns Arsenal not to underestimate "unlucky" Sheffield United despite winless start to season

Mikel Arteta has warned his Arsenal side that they will have to be at their best to beat Sheffield United after acknowledging that the Blades are "unlucky" to be travelling to the Emirates Stadium without a Premier League point to their name this season.

Arteta came to that conclusion after analysing United's three league games so far this season, against Wolves, Aston Villa and Leeds United.

A combination of poor defending and profligate finished proved United's undoing in each game, although their build-up play between both boxes and chance creation has been good so far.

And Arteta, who saw John Fleck's late equaliser rob him of an early win in the capital last season before beating the Blades in the quarter-final of the FA Cup on the road to winning the trophy, insists his side will not be taking United lightly when they meet tomorrow.

"The margins in the league of winning, drawing and losing are really small and the details are crucial," Arteta said.

"But they [United] have generated big chances every game and they've been really unlucky in my opinion not to get anything out of those games.

"We have experience of playing against them both in the Premier League and in the FA Cup so we know how difficult it is to play against them.

"The season they had, the way they have evolved as a team since they joined the Premier League has been unbelievable, the work that the manager has done with the coaching staff with the resources they have is remarkable. We need to be really alert and we have to play at our best again."

United beat the Gunners at Bramall Lane a year ago, with Lys Mousset netting the winner.

"I hope we can go on Sunday and grab three points because it's going to be really important for us before the international break," Arteta added.

"The differences are in both teams and I think you will notice some changes in structure and players. It's a different game [to last season] but we know what we're trying to do and how difficult it will be. They have the necessity for points as well and that will make the team even more ready for it."
