As things stand, the Blades are 14 points adrift of safety with just nine matches to go, and the bookies have already suspended betting on whether they will be relegated this season.

In his weekly predictions column for BBC Sport, pundit and broadcaster Mark Lawrenson offered his verdict on the most likely scoreline, and tipped a 3-0 home win for the Whites.

Explaining his choice, Lawro claimed: "Sheffield United were extremely competitive in their last game, against Chelsea in the FA Cup sixth-round, but they still lost.

“That has been the story of the Blades' season, really, and the only thing still in doubt is when their relegation will be confirmed.

“Leeds edged it 1-0 with an 86th-minute winner when these two sides met at Bramall Lane at the start of the season. I'm expecting them to find things a bit easier this time.”

Meanwhile, Lawro's opponent for the week, singer-songwriter David Gray, backed Leeds to edge it 1-0, and stated: "This one should be quite feisty."

Speaking ahead of tomorrow's game, the Blades' interim manager Paul Heckingbottom revealed his plans to get the best out of struggling striker Lys Mousset, and claimed: “As soon as I came in, we saw that we needed to get Lys fitter.

“He’s embraced it. He’s jumped on it really well. We’re trying to give him a lot more football related fitness work, to try and build him up that way.”
