Central defender John Stones is a doubt after sustaining a leg problem at the end of City’s 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday, while left back Benjamin Mendy was affected by a ‘muscular issue’ after the Etihad game.

Speaking to the media ahead of tomorrow night’s clash at Bramall Lane, City boss Pep Guardiola told reporters: “John had a problem in his leg in the last action of the game and then Mendy has muscular fatigue.”

The Catalan said he would be checking on the former Barnsley man’s availability for the game against Chris Wilder’s side with City’s medical team on Monday afternoon.

“I have to speak with doctors after the press conference,” said Guardiola, whose side defeated United 2-0 at the Etihad last month.
