Sheffield United transfer news: Liverpool and Everton eye surprise move for Blades defender plus Jesse Lingard update

We’re into the closing stages of the January transfer window – and speculation continues to surround Sheffield United.

Unfortunately for Blades fans, there doesn’t seem to be much news on potential incomings, although last night’s shock 2-1 win at Manchester United will undoubtedly lift the moon for the next few days.

Anyhow, we’ll get the worst transfer news out the way first, shall we?

Well, it isn’t sounding promising on the Jesse Lingard front, with talkSPORT reporting that his loan move to West Ham United is imminent.

As reported by The Star, Chris Wilder had hoped to convince the 28-year-old to move to Bramall Lane this month and play a starring role in United’s efforts to beat the drop.

However, it appears the high-flying Hammers have won the race for Lingard after movement over the last 24 hours.

David Moyes has paved the way for the England midfielder to join on loan for the remainder of the campaign after agreeing to turn Said Benrahma’s loan from Brentford into a permanent one.

The Algerian had been occupying one of two spaces available for domestic loanees but will now make room for Lingard.

Meanwhile, Everton and Liverpool are among the clubs monitoring Blades youngster Kyron Gordon, as per the Daily Mail.

The 18-year-old is highly-rated at Bramall Lane and even appeared on the bench in the club’s FA Cup third round win at Bristol Rovers earlier this month.

To no surprise, Derby County’s alleged enquiry for Billy Sharp has been knocked back by United. The boyhood Blade started in the win at Old Trafford yesterday.

Here’s a round-up of some of the other transfer rumours involving Sheffield united and their top-flight rivals this morning:
