Ryan Flynn looked like he could be in contention for a return to the starting line up after scoring a brace for Sheffield United under 21s against Birmingham this week.

The Scottish midfielder has missed much of this campaign through injury but made a return as a substitute in the win over Coventry at Bramall Lane last week.

And that has been followed up with a two goal haul and a crucial 90 minutes against City, also at the Lane.

Flynn told sufc.co.uk: "Obviously I haven't played 90 minutes recently so it was good to get some minutes under my belt and it was a good performance from the boys."

United play Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium on Boxing day before taking on Bradford at home the following Monday.
