Sheffield United's promotion in numbers – the most impressive stats behind the Blades’ campaign so far
The season isn’t over yet but promotion has been confirmed for Sheffield United after their 2-0 win over Ipswich Town (and Leeds United’s draw with Aston Villa) bagged them a top two spot in the Championship.
And while Premier League football awaits next season, we thought we’d take a look at the most impressive stats behind Chris Wilder’s promotion-winning team… so far! Billy Sharp and David McGoldrick have been the second most deadly strike partnership in the league this season as they have assisted and scored 38 goals between them.
United have scored 24 per cent of their goals from set pieces this year, with 7 per cent coming from penalties, four per cent from counter attacks and four per cent from own goals.
United made most attacks on the left wing with 40 per cent coming down that flank, 39 per cent down the right and 21 per cent central attacks.
The Blades scored with just under every 13th shot on target and had an average of 4.2 shots on target per match.
The Blades scored the most goals with right -footed shots (37), compared to 22 headed goals and 13 left-footed goals.
United have an aerial success rate of 50.3 per cent this season.
So far Wilder's men have completed 56.4 per cent of successful dribbles - that's 275 out of 488.
David McGoldrick was the super sub of the Blades' season with two goals and one assist in nine appearances off the bench - the highest in the squad.
