Emil Bohinen, son of ex-Nottingham Forest, Blackburn Rovers and Derby County man Lars, is scheduled to spend this week with the Blades as he looks to impress United’s coaching staff and follow in his father’s footsteps in the Premier League.

Lars, speaking to the Athletic, said: “He’s actually training with Sheffield United [and] he is going to be there until Friday.

“I know there has been a Belgian club interested and a couple of Norwegian clubs as well.”

Emil, aged 20, scored four goals in 28 games for his club Stabaek as they finished eighth in Norway’s top division and has represented Norway from U17 to U21 level.

Lars added: “He is not a big boy, quite thin. He moves well, is quick on the ball, has a good understanding of the game. He has a good left foot, his passing range is good.

“He can also drive past people with the ball at his feet. Defensively he has improved a lot over the last 12 months, which has been maybe the most important part of his game to develop.

“His contract expires in a year. I think in the January window probably something will happen. It’s no disaster if it doesn’t happen, but he wants to move on.

“His development has been so good in the past year that he wants that to continue. He needs a little bit more of a challenge.”
