Centre-half Chris Basham looked set to miss the meeting with Dean Smith’s side after being shown a red card at Carrow Road, but escaped with only a yellow after his tackle on Kenny McLean was reviewed by VAR.

Lys Mousset’s involvement this weekend also appeared to be in doubt following a subdued display in Norfolk. But, speaking after a 2-1 win lifted his team to eighth in the Premier League table, United manager Chris Wilder revealed the centre-forward’s training schedule had been interrupted due to a personal matter. Oliver Norwood was withdrawn midway through the second half but it remains unconfirmed if Wilder’s decision to substitute the midfielder was down to tactics or fitness.

“We seem to have come through,” Wilder said. “I don’t think there’s a problem.”
