But how did United's players fare? Our man at the game Danny Hall offers his ratings.

Made a couple of good saves to keep Millwall at bay but couldn't keep out Cooper in the 95th minute of the game
Given a rare start as Baldock was rested and a superb challenge prevented Ryan Tunnicliffe getting a shot at goal from close range
Went down a couple of times with injury before he finally succumbed and went off around the 20-minute mark. United will hope the damage isn't too severe for the run-in

Coped well against Millwall's threats until his moment of the game, when he handled a goalbound header, conceded a penalty and was sent off. Looked absolutely devastated as he walked off
Returned to the side after a calf injury and seemed a little hesitant at times to get forward as he usually does. A few good blocks defensively until the late heartbreak
Like his teammates, struggled to impose himself on the game early on but improved as it went on. Couldn't exploit the acres of space left on his flank as Millwall streamed forward
Uncharacteristically sloppy on the ball early on, giving it away a few times and couldn't seem to establish control of midfield, even after United went ahead
Did so, so well with the goal, to seize on the loose ball, beat a man and then unselfishly square for Madine. Booked in the second half which put doubt in his mind over tackles
Struggled to get a real foothold in the game but never hid and always showed for the ball. Taken off for Coutts as United looked to shore up midfield
Went close for United in the first half with a well-struck effort and again in the second, when he maybe should have hit the target
United will hope that his hamstring injury isn't too serious as they will need the services of their skipper and talismanic striker for the remaining few games
Scored what looked to have been the winner with a composed finish and linked up well with his teammates with some intelligent touches
Replaced Sharp as United changed shape again and looked to have done enough to help United earn a point, until Cooper's late intervention
Came on for Duffy as United tried to shore up midfield and showed a few nice touches but understandably doesn't look up to full speed
