The 27-year-old is arguably joining the club in his prime, having come off the back of a stellar season with the Hoops – bagging himself eight goals and six assists last season.

While he primarily featured on the left wing for his former club, the new Blades recruit is capable of playing all across the midfield, and will be a useful weapon for United boss Chris Wilder to deploy throughout the upcoming 2019/20 campaign.

Giving his thoughts on the deal, via the club's official website, Wilder said: “ "Luke gives us balance off his left foot. His stats add up and all the eyes we've had on him have come back with glowing reports.

"He's one of the best players in the Championship and he can play in a number of positions. Luke is ideal to complement what we already have at the club, I think he will be a good fit for us."

The Blades are now likely to press on with securing their other summer targets, with the likes of Swansea City goal-machine Oliver McBurnie and Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson understood to be at the top of Wilder's wishlist.

It was also revealed yesterday that former England U21 international Ravel Morrison has been training with the Blades, and a decision will be made in the coming days as to whether he will join the club on their pre-season trip to Portugal.
