Lundstram spent yesterday being treated by United’s medical staff having aggravated a knock during last week’s draw with Watford.

The problem forced him to sit out Sunday’s defeat by Manchester City, with Wilder explaining the 25-year-old had “probably made the problem worse” by attempting to play through the pain barrier.

“That’s the attitude my lads have got,” the United manager said.

With Lundstram undergoing a late fitness test before the trip to the Etihad Stadium, Wilder will be hopeful he will be declared available for selection against his hometown club.

Mo Besic, signed on loan from Everton, deputised for Lundstram at City and is likely to feature again if his team mate is ruled-out although Luke Freeman and Ben Osborn could both enter the equation.
