Sheffield United face anxious injury wait as goalkeeper goes off injured in FA Cup clash after suffering clash of heads
Sheffield United face an anxious injury wait over their No.2 goalkeeper after he went off injured in their FA Cup clash against AFC Fylde.
Dutchman Michael Verrips, making his competitive debut for Chris Wilder’s men, went off in the first half after colliding with his own defender, Kean Bryan.
Verrips has been on the bench for United’s recent Premier League games, after Simon Moore suffered a muscle injury in training.
It is still unclear how long Moore will be out of action for – meaning United could face something of a goalkeeping problem if Verrips is ruled out for a prolonged period.
The Blades return to Premier League action on Friday evening, when they face West Ham United at Bramall Lane. Wilder’s regular No.1, Dean Henderson, replaced Verrips off the bench against the non-league outfit, who trailed 1-0 at the time Verrips went off thanks to Callum Robinson’s earlier opener.
