Stevens scored his first Premier League goal on Sunday in a 2-1 win at Carrow Road, which saw United come from behind to claim victory thanks to George Baldock’s winner.

The Blades are back at Bramall Lane this weekend for the visit of Villa, who joined United and Norwich in the Premier League this term after winning last season’s Championship play-off final.

And Stevens, who played for Villa earlier in his career after coming to England from his native Ireland, said: “We dug in deep, stayed in the game and, second half, got on the front foot and deservedly won the game.

“We’re the ones who go out onto the pitch and we want to win every game. We know when we’re not at it. We’re an honest group.

“We needed a reaction and the manager usually gets one out of us, but not in the first half! Thankfully we got it in the second half. It gives us a massive boost of confidence and we’ve got to take that form into next week.”

United’s victory at Norwich saw them equal Blackburn Rovers’ unbeaten run away from home for a newly-promoted side. But Stevens said: “We don't look at records – we just go into each game wanting to win. We look at how to hurt the opposition in every game.”
