The defender has fallen down the pecking order at Bramall Lane after George Baldock established himself as the club’s first-choice right back.

Freeman failed to impress in either of his appearances this season, both in the Carabao Cup, and was once again left out of the matchday 18 last night as the Blades drew 3-3 with Manchester United.

And Middlesbrough are understood to be eyeing a January loan move for the defender – but could face competition from a number of their Championship rivals for his temporary signature.
