Robinson's contribution to Thursday's friendly win over New Zealand - the centre-forward scored his first senior international goal after coming on as a substitute - was praised by manager Mick McCarthy ahead of Monday's meeting with Åge Hareide's side.

After starting United's last two Premier League fixtures on the bench, Chris Wilder believes the confidence Robinson will take from his exploits in Dublin can translate into a series of improved displays at Premier League level.

"When the boys go away and do well for their country, it's good for us," Wilder said. "Obviously, you hope they come back okay but I think, when that happens, we all benefit."

Signed from Preston North End during the close season, Robinson was a regular feature in United's first choice eleven at the beginning of the campaign; scoring during August's 2-2 draw at Chelsea. But Lys Mousset's form has limited his opportunities in recent weeks.

Ireland began their preparations for the Denmark clash knowing, barring a shock result involving Group D rivals Gibraltar, they must beat the Scandinavians to reach the finals. United's John Egan, David McGoldrick and Enda Stevens are expected to be recalled by McCarthy for that match.
