Sheffield United are rumoured to be in the running to land Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson, after reports emerged claiming the Sweden international had been banned from the club's training ground.

According to the Sun, a row has erupted between the 28-year-old and his manager Marcelo Bielsa, but the report doesn't specify what the alleged issue is between the two parties.

The Blades are certainly looking to strengthen their squad this summer, and a defender of Jannson's quality would definitely add something to the back-line.

Of course, the report must be taken with a fairly substantial pinch of salt – the Blades haven’t been seriously linked with the player throughout the summer, and United boss Chris Wilder has been transparent regarding his transfer targets throughout the window thus far.

Jansson has also been linked with a move to Fulham, though choosing a Championship club over a Premier League outfit would arguably be an unusual career move from the former Torino man.

After Leeds failed to earn promotion last summer, Jansson has been guarded over his plans for the future with the press, and could conceivably look to call time on his three year spell at Elland Road in order to play football at a higher level.

Meanwhile, the Blades are set to complete the signing of Queens Park Rangers midfielder Luke Freeman, with Chris Wilder confirming on Tuesday that a deal is edging closer.
