'Revolutionary' Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder crowned 'Manager of the Decade'

The Sack Race crowned the Blades boss its number one for the ‘revolutionary football’ which yielded him four promotions with three different clubs between 2010 and 2019.

Wilder’s meteoric rise from non-league football to dining at the top table with the Premier League’s finest saw him beat the likes of Champions League winner Jürgen Klopp and serial title-winning boss Pep Guardiola to top spot.

In naming him top manager, The Sack Race wrote: “An exceptional man-manager, tactical innovator, forward-thinking, straight-shooting, gaffer who exudes passion, maximises strengths, switches styles and creates winning cultures.

As well as guiding United from League One to the top flight in just three years, Wilder also led Oxford United back into the Football League via the National League play-offs in 2010 and won the League Two title in his second full season in charge of Northampton Town in 2015-16.

This season Wilder, as well as steering the Blades to fifth place at Christmas, has also won plaudits for his tactical nous - which includes employing the innovative implementation of overlapping centre-backs.
