James Shield's high and low from Sheffield United's comeback win over Norwich City

Here’s the high point and the low point of the day according to James Shield and unsurprisingly VAR features again, just as it did in defeat to Newcastle United on Thursday night, but this time it actually got the Blades out of a hole.

HIGH: Two quick-fire second half goals from Enda Stevens and George Baldock helped Sheffield United win this crucially significant game between the two clubs who gained automatic promotion from the Championship last season.

Alex Tettey had fired Norwich City in front as Daniel Farke’s side controlled the game before the break against a disjointed and out-of-sorts Blades outfit. But United improved beyond all recognition after the interval, and got their reward when first Stevens and then his fellow wing-back, after providing the assist, pounced.

LOW: Sheffield United got the benefit of the doubt on this occasion but Chris Wilder will be bitterly disappointed, after watching his team climb to eighth, that the post-match talk was once again all about VAR.

United were leading 2-1 when Chris Basham received a straight red card for a rash challenge on City’s Kenny McLean. But officials at Stockley Park told referee Simon Hooper to downgrade it to a yellow. Both sets of supporters voiced their displeasure with the system at various stages of the contest.
