Liverpool were just too good for Sheffield United at Anfield and the Blades found themselves in the rare position of being completely outplayed all over the park by the champions elect.

And that was the general view of United fans following the defeat, which came via goals from Mo Salah and Sadio Mane.

Most felt it was a case of just playing a much better team and now they move on to certainly less challengeing days and nights.

@ViewFromJohnSt added: “Best way to deal with this defeat is recognise that Liverpool are light years ahead of everyone else, chalk it up to experience and return to what we have been doing to get where we are. In light of stats, 2-0 defeat ain’t bad.”

@IngoodNick17 said: Not sure there’s even a point in doing a Match Reaction. They were better than us in ever department. We struggled to keep the ball. Couldn’t get the ball off them. Simple.”

@Gazzdablade said: “Think we just got beat by the football equivalent of the HarleGlobetrotters.”

@BridgetteG68 put it simply: “Out fought, out classed tonight. No shame in that result. By far the best team in the league.”

@SeanWhite15 added: “It's taken 21 games for us to be outclassed! Big dose of perspective needed for some tonight.”

@MikeEdwards79 said: “First time this season we have been outclassed. We weren't great with the ball today but Liverpool are by far the best team in the league and no shame in that result. 8th in the Premier League as we head into the new year...not all bad is it!?”

Not everyone shared the view though.

@DaniBryan89 posted: “Passive, too nice, too much respect. Etc, etc. Gonna be unpopular but its true and should be said. P*ss poor. Beaten as soon as we kicked off toneet.”
