'John Egan is Rivaldo' - Sheffield United fans' verdict on draw with Burnley

Defender John Egan was the unlikely hero in front of goal for Sheffield United by firing home a stunning late equaliser for Chris Wilder’s side as they secured a 1-1 against fellow European hopefuls Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday afternoon.

The 27-year-old Irishman rescued a point for the Blades with a fine volley from the edge of the six-yard after a cute flick-on by substitute Billy Sharp in the 80th minute to cancel out James Tarkowski’s first half effort for Sean Dyche’s outfit.

It was no more than United deserved in an entertaining lunchtime affair played out in unseasonal blustery conditions in Lancashire.

The draw leaves Wilder’s men still in eighth place, seven points behind Manchester United in fifth, with just five games remaining of their first season back in the Premier League since 2007.

Here’s what United’s supporters thought of their side’s performance and result.

@geoffforcrookes We missed chances but so did Burnley so a draw fair enough. Both sides could do with an international class striker but can't afford one. Best hope finding a Vardy or an Ian Wright or manage to get a special talent into the Academy. #sufc #twitterblades

@gill_carly Despite being the better side first half and going a goal down, we dug deep and got that all important goal, deservedly so. In the end 1-1 is a fair result, a good away point against a good, strong team fighting for the same as us. Onto the next one #BURSHU #twitterblades #sufc

@DemBladesDavid Good point against an in-form and confident Burnley. Feel we controlled the game mostly, kept composure, and looked good after the formation change. Also,

@JohnEgan92 is Rivaldo. #sufc #twitterblades

@The_Bladesman A point away at Turf Moor isn't the worst result, and considering they missed a couple of good chances probably a deserved result. Burnley were everything you'd expect them to be and credit to them. Thought Ben Osborn and John Egan were our standouts.

@Justy1Rice I’ll take that point happily enough and move onto Wolves. Not our fluid best but we were by far the better team. What a strike @JohnEgan92 #sufc #twitterblades #BURSHU

@nickeaglephoto What a strike from@JohnEgan92. Any striker would have been proud of that one! #twitterblades #sufc

@ryanmathews1893 A point is about right. Dominated the first half, not so good in the second. Great strike from Egan, been great since he came back. Great to see JOC back, we've missed him #sufc #twitterblades

@justacword In terms of a strike that's got to be our goal of the season #sufc #twitterblades

@lynsey15taylor Fair result that, no complaints and Egan's finish was a cracker #sufc #twitterblades #ForgedinSteel
