McGoldrick holds the record for the most Premier League shots this season without a goal, although he did have one chalked off by VAR at Tottenham Hotspur after John Lundstram's big toenail was ajdudged offside in the build-up.

Blades boss Wilder paid tribute to the striker in his press conference today, suggesting the striker could go the whole season without scoring and still be picked in the team because of his creative qualities.

And Egan, who plays alongside McGoldrick for Mick McCarthy's Irish side as well as United, said: "Didzy's a great player.

"When he plays he makes us tick. He gets in between the lines and creates stuff for us and even though he hasn't scored yet, he's been really good.

"The goal will come for him sooner or later hopefully and when it goes, we hope he'll go on a bit of a run."

McGoldrick scored 15 times in United's promotion campaign last season, after signing on a free transfer from Ipswich Town.

"Credit to the man, the run hasn't affected his form," Egan added.

"He keeps his head down and keeps doing his thing on matchday.

"His game is not just about scoring - it's about linking the play as well, and no-one does that better than Didzy.

"The boys love him, and I'm sure the goals will come."
