Goals from Chris Basham and Billy Sharp put United 2-0 up and seemingly in control, before Panutche Camara squeezed a shot through Aaron Ramsdale to set up a finish that was slightly more fraught than it should have been from a United perspective.

Wilder's men will face Bristol City in the fifth round after they breezed past Millwall, and the Blades boss - who takes his side to Old Trafford to face Manchester United in the Premier League on Wednesday - said: "Job done."We were looking for an attitude and a professionalism and aside from five minutes when we gifted them a chance to get back into the game, we did that.

"We should have stretched the lead earlier but it's job done, into the next round and we crack on into what'll be a tough week.

"You've got to put it into perspective of course, the two teams we've beaten in the cup are in League One. We got the job done.

"We have to put it into perspective and look at our next two performances, but we played well and dominated the ball, created chances but didn't put them to bed, which we should have done."

United included French youngster Iliman Ndiaye on their bench after an impressive string of performances for the Blades' U23 sides. The youngster has scored six goals in his 11 starts for United's U23s this season, including a hat-trick against Crewe in December.
