The former striker was a fans' favourite at Bramall Lane and formed a superb partnership with Brian Deane, before both players were sold on one day - which Blades supporters have coined 'Black Thursday' in the years since.

And, speaking to host Paul Walker, Fjørtoft revealed that he was set to return to Bramall Lane to cover the FA Cup quarter-final against Arsenal, before the Covid-19 pandemic caused the postponement of the football season.

"I was dreaming for a while that I would cover United in the Champions League, and you can still dream!" said Fjørtoft, now a TV pundit amongst other business interests.

"I'd love to come over to Bramall Lane but with Covid, we have to wait now. But we should be happy that we saved the season and I think that, overall, United will be happy.

"I am so old-fashioned and think this dynamic and synergy and players is important. We played well because the fans wanted us to play well. They didn't want boring games and I'm glad I was part of a Sheffield United team that loved to score goals, I loved to score goals and fans loved watching goals, so that was always a good circle."
