Former Manchester City man Bryan comes in for the injured Ethan Ampadu, while Scottish forward Oliver Burke replaces David McGoldrick in attack on his return to the Hawthorns.

French striker Lys Mousset makes his first appearance this season in the Blades’ matchday squad and is named among the substitutes after recovering from a toe injury suffered in pre-season.

United go into the game rock bottom with just a solitary point from their opening nine games, but come up against a Baggies side which has also failed to register a victory since their return to the top flight in the summer.

Victory for either side at the Hawthorns tonight will be critical in terms of their respective seasons and one neither side can afford to lose.

Here’s how United fans on Twitter have reacted to Chris Wilder’s team selection.

@drsevers Wilder’s team selection is so erratic. Picks Burke today without even bringing him off bench in last four or five. But Brewster on bench. All the best to Bryan, go prove yourself. #sufc #twitterblades

@WillyRoberts I’m calling the headline now: “Burke bags brace as Blades blitz Baggies” #sufc #twitterblades

@1889Dylan McGoldrick has to start for me. In form and is that creative link we need. I expected us to play a little different to usual because Callum Robinson will know about how we play, but until looking at twitter I did not think that Bryan would start #WBASHU #SUFC #TwitterBlades

@mjball_ Kean Bryan is a bold move. Hope it pays off cos if he’s on top form he could be a baller

@Daryl_6 I’ve seen Kean Bryan in OK magazine more than I’ve seen him in a Blades shirt. Hopefully he puts in a performance to get him in the first team picture... couldn’t think of a magazine pun #twitterblades

@CharlotteThorpe3 I’d have stated Moose and Brewster to see what they can create between them, anyway, here we go..
