Brendan Rodgers' men are third in the table and battling with Manchester United for second place, despite a raft of recent injuries.

The Foxes boss hopes to have Jonny Evans and Ayoze Perez available to face Chris Wilder's side, but Cengiz Under won’t be available for the King Power clash.

Northern Ireland international Evans has missed City's last two games, while Perez has sat out six with a knee injury.

“We’re hopeful on Jonny,” Rodgers said.

“He should be fine. That was the feeling from the medical team, that he would miss Burnley and [Brighton] but be okay for Sheffield United. It is good news for us to have him available.

“Ayo, we’re hoping at some point next week, can rejoin. Dennis Praet starts to get closer when he gets out onto the field. But I definitely think Ayo and Jonny, hopefully at some point next week, will join us.”

United, of course, have injury issues of their own to contend with, with key defenders Jack O'Connell, John Egan and Chris Basham all missing for varying amounts of time. Phil Jagielka is available again, however, after completing his suspension after picking up a red card against Aston Villa.

Sander Berge, the Norwegian international midfielder, is also continuing his rehabilitation at Shirecliffe after undergoing surgery on a hamstring that he damaged against Manchester United earlier this season.
