Wilder revealed he was desperate to get Lys Mousset into a condition where he can start games, while McBurnie took a knock after coming off the bench at half-time to replace Burke.
United's barren start to the current season continued when Gylfi Sigurdsson finished off a good Everton move 10 minutes from time.
