There were some signs of improvement – especially compared to Sundy at Southampton – but the final results was the same again… another defeat for Sheffield United.

The Blades went down 3-2 to Manchester United at Bramall Lane, despite taking advantage of a howler by their former keeper Dean Henderson to take the lead through David McGoldrick.

However a couple for Marcus Rashford and another from Anthony Martial sent the visitors into a comfotable position – helped by poor defending and goalkeeping – and though McGoldrik scored again late on, Manchester United were well worth their win.

And for the Blades, the search for the first win of the season goes on, with many fans resigned to Championship football next season.

@smiffy2609 posted on twitter: “Keeper not great this evening, but a lack of quality all over the pitch will see us relegated in the long run. That’s about it really”

@ViewFromJohnSt added: “Huge improvement from defeat at Southampton but sadly not good enough. Hope Mousset starts at Brighton.”

@philcookson1889 pointed the finger at the keeper Aaron Ramsdale: “Can’t knock the performance. Yet again individual mistakes costing us. Wilder got to be looking at dropping Ramsdale now surely. He needs taking out the firing line.”

@Lanners1 stayed more positive: “Trying to be the optimist. Positivities: Mcgoldrick was fantastic, Mousset looks like he can change a game, burke, fleck with a few signs. Negatives: Ramsdale needs a rest, Jags should have played his last game, berge injury. Who’d be a Blade?”

@Justy1Rice also looked on the bright side: “Defeat yes but that’s a Sheffield United performance. I’m struggling to defend Ramsdale now, we can not be using Jags again and absolutely have to be starting Brewster/Moose against Brighton. That was genuinely better.”

@The_Bladesman posted: “Well I'm a lot more positive now than I was before that game. There were glimpses of the old United there. Desire, grit, intensity back. 5212 a way forward? Ramsdale and Jagielka cost us.”

And @WillyRoberts said: “Pains me to say it as he’s one of my favourite ever Blades but I really don’t want to see Jags in our back line again. Would like to see a forward line with a bit more goal threat - give me moose and Brewster every day. Thought dids & Burke were ok tho.”
