Sharp scored his latest Premier League goal in Saturday’s victory over Norwich, which kept up United’s assault on the European places.

The Blades skipper celebrated in front of the Norwich fans with a cheeky walk before pressing his finger to his lips in their direction.

And, explaining that move, Sharp revealed: “I was getting a bit of stick from their fans but I'm all for it, it's part of football. I gave a little bit back. Don't forget our fans are above them so I can celebrate where I want.

“I was just happy to get a goal and if they give me stick, I'm happy to give some back.”

Dean Henderson, Sharp’s teammate, later celebrated wildly at that same end after a remarkable triple save kept the score at 1-0 and helped United seal all three points.

“The fans are the people that make football and we want to interact with them,” Sharp added.

“I do it in a good-humoured way and so does Deano. It makes us want to do well. It's all good banter and it's good fun.”

Manchester United’s derby win over their rivals City on Sunday sent them up to fifth in the Premier League table, knocking the Blades down to seventh as a result.

But the Blades trail the Red Devils by just two points, with a game in hand.
