How Sheffield United’s season compares to the 10 worst in Premier League history

They have already broken the record for the worst start to a season in the history of English top-flight football, but just how bad could things end up for Sheffield United?

The Blades saved themselves some embarrassment by beating the lowest-ever Premier League points total set by Derby County during their infamous 2007/08 season.

But, it’s still possible they could set a new record for the highest number of defeats over 38 games, which currently stands at 29.

Sheffield United have lost 24 of their 30 Premier League matches this season and have a goal difference of -35.

Their points-per-game average currently stands at just 0.47 and, if things continue as they are, they would accumulate fewer than four more – 3.67 in total – between now and the end of the season.

Here’s how the Blades compare to the 10 worst seasons in Premier League history by points total.
