How Premier League wages have skyrocketed since Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United were both in the top flight

A look at the average wage from each Premier League season

The year was 1994. The last time both Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday were in the Premier League at the same time. Considering the size of each club, the passion bestowed on them by fans, it is far too long.

Both have had their spells at the top table but since that season they both featured in the top flight wages have risen steadily, dipped, increased some more and then exploded.
