When is the game? What time is kick-off?

Chris Wilder’s side have so far failed to replicate the form which saw them finish ninth in their first season back in the top flight since 2007, having lost seven of their opening eight league games, and come up against a Hammers outfit who occupy 12th place but have chalked up impressive performances against Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur, where they overturned a three-goal deficit at the break to draw 3-3. Kick-off at the Lane is 2pm on Sunday.

Wilder has a few injury issues to contend with heading into the game as the Blades return to action following the international break and for the first time since the 4-1 defeat at Chelsea on November 7.

Defender John Egan returned to the United camp after suffering a head injury in the early stages of the Republic of Ireland’s 3-0 defeat against England at Wembley on Thursday. He must now follow concussion protocols before being deemed fit or not to face David Moyes’ side.

Defensive colleague Enda Stevens is still receiving treatment for a knee injury suffered in the Chelsea defeat which saw him withdraw from the Ireland squad, but he should be fit to make the matchday set-up on Sunday.

Frontman Rhian Brewster has also returned to Shirecliffe as a precaution after picking up a knock in England U21s’ win over Andorra and, like Stevens, should be available for selection.

The Blades could be boosted by the return of John Fleck after recovering from a back injury he suffered playing for Scotland earlier this season, while French striker Lys Mousset is back in training after suffering a ‘rare’ toe injury and could be in contention for the trip to West Bromwich Albion on November 28.

However, Wilder is still waiting to hear if midfielder Sander Berge will be available after the Norwegian Health Ministry stopped the national team from leaving Oslo for the Nations League match in Romania after defender Omar Elabdellaoui tested positive for Covid-19.

The health ministry insisted all players should quarantine, which would rule out Berge from playing against West Ham, although former United striker Jan Aage Fjortoft claims Norwegians who ply their trade in Germany's Bundesliga can still feature for their clubs this weekend.

The other notable absentee is long-term injury victim Jack O’Connell (knee).

As for West Ham, key man Michail Antonio is not expected to travel as he recovers from a hamstring injury and Ukraine international Andriy Yarmolenko is definitely out after testing positive for Covid-19. Italian defender Angelo Ogbonna could return if he overcomes a suspected calf strain.

Who is the referee?

The referee is Martin Atkinson, with Constantine Hatzidakis and Peter Kirkup his assistants.

Robert Jones is the fourth official, with Jonathan Moss on VAR duty.

Sky Bet is offering the following odds on the game:
