There’s good news and bad news for Blades boss Chris Wilder.

The good news is defender John Egan is available again after serving a one-game ban following his controversial sending off in the 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa on September 21.

But the bad news is Egan’s defensive colleague, Jack O’Connell, will be unavailable for selection for the majority of the season as he recovers from a knee operation.

Summer signing Ethan Ampadu, who has joined on a season-long loan from Chelsea, made his league debut in the 1-0 defeat to Leeds United at Bramall Lane on Sunday and could once again get the nod from Wilder.

Other than O’Connell’s absence, Wilder is expected to have a near-full strength squad to choose from for the game against the Gunners.

However, he will once again be missing striker Lys Mousset who is out after having surgery on a ‘rare injury’ to a ligament under his toe he suffered in pre-season.

As for Arsenal, Arteta should be able to pick from the same matchday squad which travelled to Liverpool on Monday night – with Calum Chambers (knee), Shkodran Mustafi (hamstring), Pablo Mari (ankle) and Gabriel Martinelli (knee) all unavailable as they continue their rehabilitation from injury.

The Gunners return to Merseyside on Thursday to play Jurgen Klopp’s men in the Carabao Cup fourth round but are expected to field a much-changed side for the clash at Anfield.

Lee Mason will referee the game, with Mark Scholes and Timothy Wood his assistants.

Robert Jones is the fourth official, while Andre Marriner will be on VAR duty.
