SHEFFIELD United have been warned they are poised to encounter the best defence in the division when their battle for npower Championship survival resumes at Queens Park Rangers next week.
A prolific attack, spearheaded by Moroccan sensation Adel Taarabt, is often cited as the driving force behind the Londoners’ climb to the top of the table. But Neil Warnock, QPR’s manager, is determined the contribution of his back four should not be over-looked; particularly Danny Shittu, Fitz Hall and Kaspars Gorkss.
Warnock, whose side kept their 21st clean sheet of the season when they beat Doncaster Rovers earlier this month, said: “That aspect is just as important. Of course we want to score goals but we also want to keep them out too.
“We’ve got a solid base and that gives the lads further forward the freedom to express themselves more.”
Although Gorkss has been restored to Rangers’ starting 11 at Danny Shittu’s expense, Warnock hinted the Nigerian could shortly be asked to resurrect his partnership with Fitz Hall.
