United stayed overnight in Liverpool ahead of tonight’s clash, which kicks off at 8pm and is live on BT Sport, and got the balls and cones out in Stanley Park to dust off the cobwebs with Anfield’s giant new stand looming large in the background.

The session wasn’t without a hitch, though; United’s players sent into fits of laughter when a dog waltzed over and did its business against one of the cones set up by coaching staff.

United’s official Twitter account tweeted a video of the dog in action, with the caption: “ Just trying to do an activation session in peace.”

The session will likely have been in familiar surroundings for two members of United’s squad, Jack O’Connell and John Lundstram, who grew up in Liverpool supporting the Reds.
