Billy Sharp is in the XI for his forst start since the opening day defeat to Wolves, while even more suprisingly, veteran defender Phil Jagielka comes in in the left of a back three for only his second appearance of the season – the first coming in the EFL Cup against Burnley in September.

Elsewhere, there’s a return at left wing back for fit-again Enda Stevens and Ethan Ampadu comes in for John Lundstram in the middle of the park.

Unsurprisingly, SHeffield United fans were a little taken aback.

@The_Bladesman posted on twitter: “Seems to me like Wilder knows we need to get something out of the game and he's put his leaders out. Jags + Sharp coming in. We've gone from limited to no overlapping on the left + that striker partnership doesn't work but lets see. Like the midfield though.”

@WilliamGMurray added: “a breath of fresh air from Wilder; his teams have not produced a result so full marks for ringing the changes to get back on track. Suspect Lunny will get on as 1st sub... UTB.”

@ryanhobson7 said: “Can’t argue with Sharp starting. Best finisher at the club by some distance. With the chances we’ve been creating it’s about time we started converting. UTB”

@HappyMePaul posted: “Trust the gaffer but the pack is shuffled again… Never want to predict a Blades loss… But optimism has gone. But luckily enough I'm wrong 95% of the time. Come On BLADES!!!!!”

@LysAnelka said: “Does that mean I wouldn't expect Bryan to play again for the club? (unless injured??) Glad Lowe has been taken out too, miles off the standard. Burke, must be injured, as away from home, he's first choice. Sharp, doesn't cut it but Brewster learning and Mousset, unfit.”

And @srowley88 added: “I have got to be honest wilder each passing week is starting to look out of depth in the premier league, his team selections are baffling.”
